I just replaced the plastic nut with one made of bone. I got to use my new nut rule, which works very well by making it easy to plan the placement of each string as it crosses the nut. As always, I slanted the string slots downward on the back side. This makes the front of the slot its highest point, per Mr. Erlewine's guitar repair book.
