I am refinishing the guitar this weekend. Tonight I built up all of the wood to a level surface. Tomorrow I'm planning to seal the surface by brushing on Bull's Eye SealCoat, a waxless shellac and universal sealer. After that, I plan to begin spraying the guitar with store-bought cans of black lacquer, using steel wool to smooth down the surface between coats. Then I'll use clear lacquer from the can to spray a clear-coat in several coats. When the guitar is being sprayed and while each coat is drying, I hang the guitar body from an oak tree in my backyard. I always use protective gear because I hope to live a long, long time.
