The brushed on Auto-Air emerald flake paint looks good. I reduced the paint and intend to use several coats. I started painting the guitar body in my back yard. When I painted outside before, it seemed that the wind would blow little specks of dust into the lacquer. This concerned me so I was hoping to avoid painting outside, but it is just so much safer than any other place I have available.
I cut a piece of wood to match the heel pocket of the guitar body and screwed it in; the wood has a hook installed so that I can hang the guitar up inside my garage to dry between coats. I'm drying the paint using both fans and infrared heat lamps. The heat lamps are rigged so that they are at least one foot from the guitar body.
